We pride ourselves on the smooth operation of our group programs; it is safe to say you hit the easy button by coming to SEPA Spanish School and Environmental Protection Center.

“I came with a group of twelve students from the United States and SEPA helped organize everything from language classes to ziplining.  They were thoroughly organized and everyone I worked with went out of their way to make sure I got all of my needs taken care of.

I was enormously impressed.  I never had to worry about their reliability – everyone, from teachers to drivers, were on time and ready to go.  The teachers prepared fun and dynamic exercises for the students and I was amazed at how much they learned!”    Brittany Lefkoe, San Francisco, CA Overland Leader 2010

As a newly-arrived group leader in Costa Rica, you are going to love the outstanding, smooth management of your students’ daily Spanish lessons and adventures by the SEPA Spanish School staff. And while your students are learning with our teachers, you, too, can fine-tune your Spanish language conversation grammar with one of our fine instructors.

This will be the easiest and best trip abroad you ever booked for your students! You will actually arrive back home without those huge circles under your eyes from the sleeplessness that most teachers face during Spanish study abroad programs! So trail-blazers, leaders, and teachers, just sit back, relax, and take a well-deserved break while we teach your kids for a change!

“It was a pleasure working with Nidia [the school director] and the SEPA School.  The profesoras were always coming up with creative ways to help the students learn and practice their Spanish.  Nidia was always available and willing to assist us in any situation.  They truly cared about us, and each and every student.”  Jacob Reilly, Overland Leader, 2015,

Volunteer programs for student groups:

Be sure to sign your students up for the volunteer programs.  Besides learning Spanish faster AND gaining a great appreciation of today’s ecology and society issues, those kids will be tired!  But more importantly, they can add this Spanish for Volunteers experience to their higher education applications – a huge advantage in today’s competitive education market!

Volunteer programs for adult groups:

If you are bringing an adult group, we match their volunteer work to fit their career areas.  Besides being extremely rewarding, it really enhances one’s resumé!  Our adult students speak highly of their experience as volunteers, and treasure the time they had.

Depending on the program you choose, your students can stay with a family in our all-popular homestay program, or they can stay in one of our attractive group facilities.

My name is Ned Flanagan and I co-led four groups of high school students on language and volunteering trips to Costa Rica coordinated through SEPA, Spanish language school, in the summer of 2022. SEPA provided an incredible experience for our students. Each day, students spent the morning volunteering at local schools alongside a SEPA volunteer coordinator, interacting with local students while helping with rehabilitation and  construction projects at the schools. After volunteering in the morning, students took four hours of small-group Spanish classes each afternoon, working with teachers on essential grammar and vocabulary relevant to the day’s volunteering. Teachers empowered students through experiential learning inside and outside the classroom, offering personalized instruction to meet each student’s specific ability level. Going far beyond traditional classroom learning, SEPA grounded lessons in Costa Rican culture and real-world exchanges in markets, shops, and schools across San Isidro del General. Each weekend, SEPA school coordinated weekend trips around the country to visit some of the most beautiful National Parks and beaches Costa Rica has to offer, allowing students to take a break from classes and volunteering to enjoy the natural beauty and biodiversity of the Pacific coast. The warmth and compassion of each teacher and the entire SEPA team fostered a bond among our groups that was hard to leave behind at the end of our time in San Isidro de El General Perez zeledón. Thank you SEPA School!!!
